Köhler: 15 Easy Etudes Op.33 No.1

15 Study Duets for Two Flutes

Based on Köhler’s 15 Easy Etudes, Op.33 No.1 • Instant PDF Download

Turn Köhler’s familiar solo etudes into a musical duet experience.

This collection is based on Ernesto Köhler’s 15 Easy Etudes, Op.33 No.1. The original flute line is preserved as the first part, while a newly written second flute part adds harmony, rhythmic support, and musical dialogue.

Rather than replacing the original etudes, these duet arrangements are designed to help players understand them more deeply — through harmony, phrasing, balance, listening, and ensemble playing.

A Bridge Between Etude Practice and Ensemble Playing

Many flute students begin by making music together with a teacher. But as they progress from beginner methods into solo etudes, practice can suddenly become unaccompanied.

These study duets help bridge that transition.

By hearing and playing the harmony behind Köhler’s melodic line, students can develop a clearer sense of phrase direction, musical structure, intonation, balance, and expressive playing — while still working on the technical goals of the original etudes.

About the Arrangement

The first flute follows Köhler’s original solo etude line.

The newly composed second part supports the original through harmony, rhythm, counterpoint, and musical dialogue, helping players hear the direction and structure of each study more clearly.

The goal is to make technical practice part of a richer musical experience — useful not only for study, but also for duet playing and small performances.
